Week of February 26, 2018

This week we continue our fairy tale unit.  We will read several versions of Cinderella and do some story maps and compare and contrast.

We are continuing to work on our class fairy tale.

We are continuing to write about famous Black Americans as we continue Black History Month.

This week we also celebrate Dr. Seuss and will be reading many of his books.  A notice went home about special events happening this week to celebrate Dr. Seuss.

In math we will be graphing this week and talk about flat and solid shapes.

Our words of the week are:  stop, good, end.

Reminders:
The book fair is this week.

Conference notices went home.  Please send back the form with confirmation or a better time.  Thank you for your cooperation.

IMPORTANT:
Students have earned another paw celebration.  We will do a pajama and bring a stuffed animal to school day on Friday, March 2nd.  Students may also bring their favorite Dr. Seuss book.
Please be sure that your child wears safe shoes with their pajamas.  Thank you.

Week of February 21, 2018

This week we will continue our fairy tale unit.  We will compare and contrast several versions of "The Three Bears".  We will read "Jack and the Bean Stalk" and work on retelling - characters, setting, beginning, middle and end.

We have picked a character for our class fairy tale and are working on the setting and then the problem and solution.

We continue to work on teen numbers, addition and subtraction number stories.

Week of February 12, 2018

This week we will continue our fairy tale unit and reread and discuss - compare and contrast two versions of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" using a venn diagram.

In honor of Black History Month we will continue to read and learn about contributions made by Black Americans and we will write a fact learned.

We will learn about Abraham Lincoln and George Washington as we get ready  to celebrate Presidents' Day.

We are practicing counting to 100 by 1s, 10s and 5s.  We continue to work with addition and subtraction number stories and to understand and write numbers to 20.

REMINDERS:
If your child is bringing in Valentine Day cards please be sure that there are enough for each person in the class  - 19 and do not address the cards.  Please have your child sign the cards with his/her name.

The special Valentine show is in the auditorium on Wednesday, February 14th at 1:30.

Week of February 5, 2018 Part 2 - Pictures Attached

During our literacy block this week we will continue our fairy tale unit.  This week we will read and discuss several versions of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears".  We will focus on characters, character traits, setting, beginning, middle and end.

We will continue to work on a class fairy tale.  We also will be reading and discussing and writing about the emotion of the month - love.  We will write about how we can be a good friend and show kindness.

We are working on addition number stories and sentences, teen numbers and shapes in math.  Please continue to practice counting to 100 with your child both by 1's and 10's.
