Week of April 16, 2018

This week we will begin to read and discuss needs and wants and community helpers.  We will discuss careers and make a chart of what we would like to do when we grow up.  We will write about a need and a want that we have.

In math we will be graphing and working with teen numbers.  We will be doing addition and subtraction number stories.

We will be reading books about taking care of our earth and will be doing some special earth day projects.

We had a STEM Friday before vacation.  Four kindergarten classes rotated to participate in four different challenges that related to our fairytale unit.  The challenges were:  build a bridge with given materials, see what materials would make a stronger house, design a way to climb up a given set of blocks and design an evil monster character that had to be four blocks tall.

Below are some pictures of students working with a partner to design an evil character.  First the students had to design their character on paper.  Then they were able to use the materials to create.  The students worked hard and were very creative.  It was fun and lots of learning was going on.
