Week of October 26th

This week in Reader's Workshop we will work on retelling a story - thinking about characters, setting, beginning, middle and end.  We will also share our opinion about stories we have read.

In Writer's Workshop we will talk about what a good sentence should look like and we will write a story together.  We will also make a list of topics that we can write about.

In math we will continue to work with teen numbers and we will learn about estimating.

We are continuing to talk about being good citizens in school, at home and in our community.

Our words of the week are:         in         on

IMPORTANT NOTICES
Wednesday, October 28th is an early dismissal day.

Friday, October 30th is the Halloween Parade at 2:00PM and parties will follow.  Please send your child's costume in a bag with their name, and we will get them into their costumes before the parade.

Classroom News for the week of October 19th

This week in Reader's Workshop we will be starting our Narrative Unit.  As good readers, students will learn to ask questions, look at details in pictures and to give their opinion about a book and tell why they like/dislike the book.

In Writer's Workshop we will write stories about our own experiences - thinking about a time when we felt happy, sad, surprised etc.  We will recall that we talked about stories having a beginning, middle and end.

In math we will match coins, and learn to understand teen numbers as well as writing numbers 1-10 and orally counting to 100.

Our words of the week are:   we      go
