This week in literacy we will continue to read fairy tales. We have read several versions of "The Three Little Pigs." We have talked about characters traits and have practiced retelling the story - characters, setting, beginning, middle and end. This week we will compare two versions and talk about which version we liked best and why.
We are beginning our class fairy tale - talking about the characters and setting.
In math we continue to work with teen numbers, making ten, addition number stories and shapes.
We will talk about Ground Hog Day and make some of our own predictions.

Week of January 22, 2018

Week of January 16, 2018
This week we will begin our fairy tale unit. We will talk about what a fairy tale is and our first story will be "The Three Little Pigs". We will also begin a class fairy tale - thinking about characters, setting, beginning middle and end.
In math we continue to work with teen numbers, and solving number stories. We also will practice counting by 1's and 10's to 100.

I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays.
This week we will read stories about winter and will retell using our retelling hand - characters, setting, beginning, middle and end.
We will continue to write stories with a beginning, middle and end. We will talk about adding interesting details to our pictures and writing.
In math we continue to work with teen numbers, number stories, tens frames and shapes.
We will be talking about animals in winter and doing some special projects.

We are talking about rhyming words and word families.
