April 24, 2017

This week we will begin our new nonfiction literacy unit "Animals".  We will begin by talking about living and non-living things and characteristics of each.  We will then begin reading about mammals and making anchor charts to list facts learned.  We will keep a book of facts that we learn as we go through this unit.

In math we will review 2D and 3D shapes.  We will be working with addition and subtraction and practice counting starting at different numbers.

We continue to work on spring projects.

Our words of the week are:  be    was   big

REMINDERS:
We have an early dismissal day on Wednesday, April 26th.

Please continue to practice counting and practice reading and writing sight words.

Upcoming:
We have two field trips coming up in May.  Permission slips will be going home shortly.  We will go to the Ferguson Library on May 17th and we have our trip to the Beardsley Zoo on May 19th.  We will need parent volunteers for the trip to the zoo.  It is a full day trip - we leave school at 9:15 and will leave the zoo at around 1:15PM.  If you are able to volunteer to help, volunteer forms will need to be filled out, and you must provide your own transportation to the zoo as well as pay the entrance fee.  Thank you for your consideration and please let me know if you are interested.
