During our literacy block this week we are finishing up our unit on money - spending, saving and sharing. We will talk about jobs people have to earn money and we will be writing about what we would want to do with money we earned.
In math we are continuing interrupted counting, writing numbers to 30, and solving number sentences.
We will continue our investigation of wood and water.
We will also be doing some special spring projects this week.

Week of March 21, 2016
During our literacy block this week we will be talking and reading about ways we earn money. We will talk about spending and saving money and we will also be writing about these topics.
During math we will learn about the quarter, we will practice interrupted counting and we will be solving addition and subtraction number sentences.
In science we will be continuing our study of wood and paper.
We will talk about spring and do some special spring projects.

Week of March 14, 2016
During our literacy block this week we will read a story entitled "The Bag I'm Taking to Grandma's". After reading this story we will talk about things we would pack if we were going away. We will think about the things we would need/want to bring with us on a trip.
In math we will be comparing numbers, solving number problems and reviewing both 2D and 3D shapes as well as continuing to learn about money.
In science we will be going on a wood hunt in our classroom and observing wood when it gets wet.
We will do some special St. Patrick's Day projects.

This week during our literacy block we will continue to learn about money. We will learn about the difference between needs and wants. We will write about things we need and some things we want.
In math we will be working with number stories, shapes, counting by 2's and coins.
We will begin our wood unit for science this week. We will talk about what wood is and identify some things that are made of wood.
We are continuing our read aloud of "Crenshaw."

This week we are starting a new unit during our literacy block about money. We will read a book entitled "What is Money". We will be writing our own booklets about facts we are learning about money.
In math we will be learning about the penny, the nickel, and the dime. We are also working with shapes both 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional.
We will be starting our Wood and Paper unit in science.
We will be reading some Dr. Seuss books this week and doing some special projects.

Week of February 17th
This week during our literacy block we will read stories and work on vocabulary (interesting words) and retelling the story - characters, setting, beginning, middle and end. We will share our Eric Carle stories and then begin writing new stories including a beginning, middle and end in our stories.
In math we are working on counting to 100 and writing our numbers to 30. We will compare numbers and do some addition and subtraction number sentences.
In February we celebrate Black History month so we will be reading about some interesting people who have made great contributions to our country.
